Security Summary

Art of Australia uses KDG's propriety SimpleCom system to provide a secure environment for the authorisation of credit card transactions over the Internet.

Confidential information including client credit card details are encrypted the moment they are transmitted from the client's browser to the banking network using industry standard SSL 128-bit RC4 encryption technology.

When your web browser shows a little lock icon towards the bottom right-hand corner, this means a secure connection has been established (this is a good sign).

A client's credit card details are not stored anywhere on the Internet and the only company who has access to this data is the merchant's bank. The bank also sends confirmation information via the same encryption technology back to the client's browser. These secure processes provide clients with peace of mind when purchasing online.

Using Your Credit Card on the Internet

Is using your credit card over the Internet dangerous? Although many complex security systems have been devised so far because of the inherent problems of using credit cards, none are completely secure. The fact is that every time you use your credit card, you are risking your credit card being misused.

Perhaps more importantly, you should realise that the most dangerous place to use a credit card is the way you use it normally - in full view of people. If you use your credit card for any purpose, it will be viewed by many people. Because credit card numbers are stored within organisations, they can be viewed, copied and misused by any of the people coming into contact with them. This includes the person processing the transaction, administrators within the organisation and the office cleaner when old credit card transaction slips are placed in the rubbish bin.

The question then is, what will be the cost to you if it is misused? Most major credit card companies will refund the costs of any fraudulent transactions. You can confirm this by ringing your credit card company. In the absolute worst case, some credit card companies charge a fee, usually around $50, for fraudulent card use. This will occur if they cannot be convinced you were not responsible for authorising the transaction. In effect, this means that using a credit card turns into a $50 'risk' every time you use it. This 'risk' exists whenever you use your card on the Internet or when you physically walk into a store and use it.

Browsing the Online Catalogue

The Art of Australia catalogue is a database of all the products that Art of Australia stock. The prices on the site are continually updated using our custom developed administration software. The products in the catalogue are sorted into major categories (eg. Aboriginal Paintings, Aboriginal
Artefacts, Contemporary Australian Art etc.) This is to help you find the products you want quickly and easily.

If the menu is too much for you and you know what you want, why not search for your desired product using our intuitive search tool. Just enter in the name of the product you are searching for and click the 'Find' button to the right of the search box. If the word(s) you have entered match the name(s) of product(s) in the database, the search will give you the results and provide you with links to access the product directly.

Once you have browsed the site, done your research and found the products you wish to purchase you are ready to start adding these products to your virtual 'shopping basket'.

Adding Items to Your Shopping Basket

Every product in the catalogue has an 'Add to Basket' button located to the right of the product name, next to its price. When you click the 'Add to Basket' button, the content in the 'Shopping Basket' box on the right hand side of the page will update to let you know that your product item has been added and will list the total price (inc. GST).

If you would like to see the contents of your shopping basket, click the 'View Basket' link under the price. This will bring up a summary of the products currently in your basket, the quantity selected and the subtotal. At this stage you can elect to:
Change the quantity of any item by typing in a new number in the 'Qty' box and clicking the 'Update' button

Continue Shopping for other products to add by clicking the 'Continue Shopping' button

You will also notice that at the top of the summary page is a progress bar to help you keep track of where you are in the purchasing process.

Processing Your Order at the Checkout

With your product(s) selected in the basket, the final stage involves you going to the online 'Checkout' to complete your purchase. Clicking on the 'Checkout' button in the 'Shopping Basket' area will bring up 'View Basket'. From here, you can see what items you have elected to purchase. The page on which you fill in your credit card details is an SSL secure page; meaning that information sent from your web browser to our servers is encrypted and very difficult for hackers to intercept.

Progress Indicator

You will also notice that at the top of the summary page is a progress bar to help you keep track of where you are in the purchasing process. Essentially there are 5 steps to be completed before your order is finalised. You should note that the 'View Basket' page counts as the first stage of the checkout process.

Checkout Process: Step-by-Step

Optional Step: Member Login

You can login to the website using your member details from most pages. Once logged in, some of your details will be pre-filled when you go to make an order, thus saving you time.

Step 1: View Basket

Step 2: Delivery Details

This step involves you providing us with the information needed to deliver your order. Required fields are indicated by the first letter of a word shown in a bold yellow type-face. Fields such as: name, address, postcode, etc need to be filled in here. This information must be filled in correctly to be able to continue to the next step.

Step 3. Payment Information

This step involves you entering your credit card details. Your credit card details are not saved or stored by the Art of Australia server. This information is used to electronicly validate your credit card via the banks systems and pay for your order. If you are apprehensive about entering your credit card details on the site, you may submit your order and request that a Art of Australia staff member ring you to take down your credit card information.

Before continuing beyond this point, check over the information entered to make sure you have entered the correct details. To ensure security and reduce fraud attempts on the site, Art of Australia also record the IP address of the current user, as well as the date and time information was submitted to the server. Illegal usage of credit cards are reported to the appropriate authorities immediately.

Step 4. Confirmation

The final step is to confirm all the details you have entered in the previous steps. This gives you the chance to go back and make any changes to the details or correct mistakes. Look over this section carefully to ensure the order is filled out promptly. At this stage you can still cancel the order. By clicking the 'Finish' button at this point, you confirm that all your information is correct.

To check that your screen resolution is set at or above the miminum requirement, please follow the instructions below:

With your mouse, right click anywhere on your desktop and select 'Properties' or double click on the 'Display' icon in the 'Control Panel'. You should now see a window titled 'Display Properties'.

Now select the 'Settings' tab at the top of the window. In the 'screen area' section, move the slider until you reach 800x600 or higher and click 'OK'. When asked if you would like to resize your desktop, click 'OK'. Note that if your computer cannot support a higher resolution your picture may become garbled and unusable.
